Men are just as likely to find themselves in jobs where it is difficult to recover from previous bad decisions

NY Times:

Some Women Break Glass Ceiling Only to Find Shaky Ground

A report said women were more likely to be promoted to the top job of a troubled company. But then, researchers found, the women “often lacked the support or authority” to make changes, leading to shorter tenures.
The same thing often happens to similarly situated men. The smart move for both men and women who are offered jobs in this situation is to get a commitment from the company going in to accept certain changes or they will turn down the job.If they failed to do that, there are setting themselves up for failure.
