South Korea's new President open to new talks with the fat prince of Pyongyang

NY Times:

South Korea Elects a Liberal Who Backs Talks With the North

Moon Jae-in’s victory in the presidential election sets up a potential rift with Washington over North Korea’s nuclear program.
I don't see the rift since Trump has expressed a willingness to talk with the North too about eliminating its nuclear threat to the US and its allies.  My personal view is that such talks would be a futile gesture meant to show China that we tried to settle the problem peacefully but the Norks were not interested.
