New healthcare revisions would allow states to opt out of mandates

NY Times:

White House Pitches New Health Bill Plan to Freedom Caucus

Under the proposal, states could opt out of requiring insurers to cover a minimum benefits package and could do away with a rule forcing them to charge the same price to everyone who is the same age.
This looks like a substantial improvement over the previous attempt at reforming Obamacare.  I give it a good chance of drawing support from Republicans who opposed the previous one.  The absurd mandates are the real drivers of the cost increased under Obamacare and they act as a tax on people who don't need some of the coverage required by Obamacare.
