How the Israeli settlements could accelerate the peace process

Washington Post:
Trump warns Israel: New settlements ‘may not help’ achieve Middle East peace

The White House’s pushback on new or expanded settlements in the West Bank signals that the new administration will seek some continuity with past presidents.
I think the wise course would be to tell the Palestinians that if they do not want more Israeli settlements they better take the deal Israel is offering them, or there will be more settlements.  The Palestinians have worn out their support from most Arab countries who have bigger worries than worrying about this band of beggars.

Israel is of more strategic importance to the Arabs' own security in the war with Iran than the Palestinians would ever be.  The US should make clear to the Palestinians that they are letting the opportunity for a state slip away by their own intransigence.
