Why the attacks on Trump have not resonated

Because of the distrust in the objectivity of the media, all the negative attacks on Trump just confirm their belief that the media should not be trusted. So far, I have seen little reporting that would even attempt to rebuild that trust.
I suspect that there is also deep distrust of the media and its liberal bias. When media operatives openly talk about there being no need to be fair to Trump and their reporting reflects it, then they lose credibility with news consumers. Even when offended, some looked past Mr. Trump’s flaws to issues like jobs and immigration. Distrust of Hillary Clinton and a liking for Ivanka Trump also helped.
