No free ride for Democrats critical of Trump

Fox News:
Donald Trump fired back Saturday at Rep. John Lewis for arguing that he won’t be a legitimate president, saying the Democratic congressman should focus more on fixing his troubled Georgia district.

“Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart,” Trump tweeted.

Lewis says in an NBC's "Meet the Press" that will air on Sunday that he's does not consider Trump a "legitimate president," and blamed the Russians for helping the Republican win the White House.

"You know, I believe in forgiveness. I believe in trying to work with people. It will be hard. It's going to be very difficult. I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president," Lewis said.

The congressman and leader in the civil rights movement of the 1960s said he will skip next week's inauguration of Trump, a Republican, at the Capitol, joining several other Democrats who have decided to boycott the historic event.

"I think the Russians participated in helping this man get elected. And they helped destroy the candidacy of Hillary Clinton," Lewis said.

The Trump counter punch was pretty tough:
Donald Trump took to Twitter Saturday morning to bite back at the long-serving congressman and iconic Civil Rights leader who questioned the legitimacy of the president-elect's upcoming administration.

“Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results,” he tweeted just after 8 a.m. Saturday.

“All talk, talk, talk - no action or results. Sad!” he added.
...
Lewis also spoke against the Sessions appointment to be Attorney General despite working with him in the past and even marching with him at a Selma commemoration event.  He has often avoided criticism by Republicans because of his civil rights background, but Trump is not one to take criticism he deems unfair without hitting back.

Democrats and the media better get used to it.
