Trump believes Democrats are behind Russian interference theory

NY Times:

Trump on Reports of Interference: ‘I Don’t Believe It’

  • President-elect Donald J. Trump, in an interview with Fox News, cast blame for the intelligence assessments of Russia’s meddling on Democrats, who he said were embarrassed about losing.
  • He also indicated that his vice president, Mike Pence, would receive his daily intelligence briefings, seemingly dismissing the importance of interacting with the agencies.
He has some reason to question the CIA "assessment."  It is based on an assumption that is not supported by the facts.  It relies on an assertion that the GOP was hacked too and was not used in the Wikileaks.  Both the FBI and the RNC deny that assertion.  The head of the RNC is adamant that their material was not breached and there is no independent investigation to support that.

If the CIA is relying on an intercept from the Russians, it is possible that the intercept was used to spoof the agency.

There is also the possibility that the CIA is doing this to benefit the Democrats as they often did during the Bush administration.  Certainly, the Democrats would like to discredit Trump's election and delegitimize his Presidency.  It appears that some Democrats in the Senate are already pushing that meme.

CIA veterans are also wary of the conclusion reached in the leak on the Russian intentions.
