Mattis selected to head DOD

Washington Post:
Trump picks retired Marine Gen. Mattis for defense secretary

The president-elect has chosen former senior military officer James Mattis, who led operations across the Middle East, to run the Pentagon less than four years after he hung up his uniform, according to people familiar with the decision.
I think this is a terrific choice.  At least one Democrat has said she will vote against a waiver of a rule against appointments of a military man to this position which tells you something about their strategy for trying to deny Trump his appointment.

Mattis is an intelligent man who would have the respect of the military immediately.
