Trump scares security professionals

The officials, many of them from the George W. Bush administration, signed a letter declaring that Mr. Trump “would be the most reckless president in American history.”
His statements about Russia and Putin's intentions seem out of touch with reality and his statements about not defending allies appear to invite aggression.  He may see some of these statements as the opening bid in forcing greater contributions from allies, but his lack of understanding of history allows him to ignore the wars caused by such statements in the past from Korea to Kuwait.

Trump is running behind in this race because his opponents have tagged him as scary.   Trump's on statements have played into that narrative.

History shows that candidates who are deemed to be scary are likely to lose and many times they lose by a landslide such a Goldwater and McGovern.  Reagan is an exception to that rule despite the Democrats' attempts to label him as scary.

Trump is really squandering an opportunity for a victory of his own based on the Obama administration's screw ups and Clinton's association with many of them.  A smarter candidate would be leading her by now.  And, those 50 former officials would be talking about those screw-ups instead of Trump's reckless statements.
