Gingrich says Trump is making himself unacceptable

Washington Examiner:
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich warned Wednesday that Donald Trump isn't an "acceptable" candidate to voters at the moment, and needs to change course soon to give himself a chance at beating Hillary Clinton in November.

In remarks to the Washington Post, Gingrich said Trump cannot win the White House "operating the way he is now," and said Trump is "helping" Clinton win by making himself more and more "unacceptable" to voters with his repeated missteps.

"The current race is, which of these two is the more unacceptable, because right now neither of them is acceptable," Gingrich told The Post. "Trump is helping her to win by proving he is more unacceptable than she is.

"Anybody who is horrified by Hillary should hope that Trump will take a deep breath and learn some new skills," Gingrich said. "He cannot win the presidency operating the way he is now. She can't be bad enough to elect him if he's determined to make this many mistakes."

...
Trump is acting like "all is well."
...
"I just want to tell you, the campaign — it's never been so well-united," Trump told the crowd. "I would say right now it's the best in terms of being united since we began.

"I think we've never been this united," he repeated.
...
This does not sound like a guy in the real world.  It sounds more like a guy who hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.  Gingrich's assessment is much closer to reality.
