Are protesters a distraction from Trump's own implosion?

NY Times:

Before a Trump Rally, Protesters Lay Plans Behind the Scenes

So conflict-prone have Donald Trump’s campaign rallies become that they have prompted an elaborate game of cat-and-mouse that takes place out of view of the television cameras.
I think Trump is doing enough damage to his own campaign without the help of the protesters.  Those protesting Trump  are violating the strategy of when you opponent is doing something to lose, you should not interfere with his efforts.

From his disgraceful attacks on Heidi Cruz to his mishandling of a question on abortion Trump is having a hard time getting out of his own way.
