Ideology is at the heart of the rejection of another Obama appointment to court
NY Times:
This is a fight about ideology and stopping liberals from imposing their agenda through the courts rather than the democratic process. It is as simple as that and it would be happening no matter the race of the President.
Some African-Americans saw the move by Republicans to block a Supreme Court nomination as another attempt to deny the legitimacy of the Obama presidency.
One of the problems some blacks in this country have is the tendency to see every setback in life through the prism of race. It is really unfortunate because it is one of the attitudes that is holding many of them back from achieving their potential. It is also absurd. Was it race that made Democrats say they would oppose any George W. Bush appointment?
