New plant to make pipe to transport Eagle Ford oil

San Antonio Express-News:
Tenaris, an international company with 4,000 employees in the United States, announced Friday it will build a $1.5 billion pipe mill in Matagorda County to serve drillers in the Eagle Ford and other unconventional shale plays.

The plant, announced during a crowded news conference in Bay City attended by Gov. Rick Perry and dozens of area politicians and economic development officials, is scheduled to open in 2016. The company said it will produce 600,000 tons of tubular goods, primarily casing and tubing used in drilling.

According to the announcement, the plant will employ 600 people in direct manufacturing jobs, at an average salary of $66,000.

This will be a busy factory and its product is urgently needed to get this oik to market.  Other billion dollar plants are going in to produce ethylene which is made from natural gas.  Texas manufacturing growth in the next months will likely lead the US.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014.
