Liberals to push for immigration reform in one package
They will probably have a problem with this approach. Comprehensive immigration reform is still unpopular with about 60 percent of the voters. It is most popular with those who can't vote, i.e. illegal immigrants. The most difficult question for the proponents of this reform to answer is how they will deter future illegal immigration. What will be the consequence of coming here illegally? Will it be future amnesties? Are Democrats just doing this because they need to add Hispanic voters to their rolls rather than doing what is right for the country?President Obama and Senate Democrats will try to carve a legislative path to citizenship for illegal immigrants with one bill, resisting G.O.P. proposals to tackle the issue piecemeal.
