I think some celebrity law suits are filed in hopes of getting a settlement to avoid  bad publicity.  If that was the intention in this case, it clearly backfired.  Judges tend to award attorneys fees very rarely in this country as oppose to the UK were they have a loser pays system.  Here it usually requires a finding that the case was brought in bad faith or was pursued despite a lack of evidence.
