House tries to reign in spending on alternative fuels

Fuel Fix:
The White House is threatening to veto a defense spending bill after complaining that the measure would limit the military’s ability to power its planes, ships and tanks with alternative fuels.
At issue are provisions in the defense spending bill set to be debated by the House of Representatives this week that take aim at the Pentagon’s use of alternative fuels.
The measure would block the military from buying alternative fuels that cost more than their conventional counterparts.
...
The Secretary of the Navy has been spending exorbitant amounts on so called green energy.   Obama apparently supports this waste in the name of "national security" even though it is expensive and would be ineffective once the ships left US shorelines, because they would not be available elsewhere.

The fact is that currently green energy is less efficient and is more costly.  Until research can develop better alternatives it is a waste to try to fuel ships and planes with the stuff gang green is selling.  If Obama vetoes the bill he will be harming national security.
