China's not so green energy demands

China's demand for oil jumped by an "astonishing" 28% in January compared with the same month a year earlier, the International Energy Agency (IEA) says.

The body added that demand for oil in 2010 would be underpinned by rising demand from emerging markets, with half of all growth coming from Asia.

Thomas Friedman and other environmentalist have been touting China's increased use of "green energy" but this report suggest that China is devoting ever more of its energy needs to traditional sources. It also suggest the importance of the US developing its own domestic energy supplies. Meanwhile, the Democrats continue to strangle domestic production. The Obama administration recently postponed for another three years offshore energy production in most areas.
