Head in the sand 'climate change' consensus

NY Times:

With the scientific consensus more or less settled that human activity — the burning of fossil fuels, torching of forests, and so forth — is contributing to a warmer and less hospitable planet, one might reasonably ask, why is it so hard to agree on a plan to curb those activities?

...
How can a sentient being write such a lead only a few days after evidence of a massive fraud is produced that created such a "consensus?" It only heightens the distrust of the media and the climate scientist when they project such a willful disregard of the facts to produce a story that hits on why there are problems reaching agreement and omits the obvious.
