Van Jones finally resigns

Washington Post:

White House environmental adviser Van Jones resigned Saturday after weeks of controversy stemming from his past activism.

"On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me," Jones, special adviser for green jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, said in a statement announcing his resignation just after midnight Saturday. "They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide."

...

Opponents have mainly used his own words against him. Jones made a career of saying outrageous things to collect attention and when he was appointed to high office those things did not sound so smart. While he and his supporters would like to blame Glen Beck and other consrvatives, the fact is he has only himself to blame.

I think the next to go will be the "diversity czar" at the FCC who has stated his admiration for the way Hugo Chavez handles the media. Since his targets are mainly stations that carry conservative talk radio, many in the mainstream media have ignored his statements, but that will be harder to do now as he takes his turn in the limelight.
