At the rally against the anti energy bill

Around 3,500 from the Houston area jammed the Verizon theater in downtown Houston to demonstrate against the Democrats' cap and trade bill.

Speakers included Drayton McLane as well as leaders from black and Hispanic chambers of commerce. Robert Garcia talked about the impact of the bill on the trucking business. Robert sells the big rigs and has had to close one of his facilities.

While the gathering had a lot of energy industry people, there were also truckers there who are directly impacted by the Democrat anti energy bill.

I intended to blog from the auditorium but the auditoriums wireless network would not allow me to log on. You would think with a name like Verizon they would have that worked out.

I did get to meet Jane Van Ryan whose blog is a great resources on energy issues.

This is the first of what I think will be numerous rallies around the country against the anti energy bill. The large enthusiastic crowd was probably enough to frighten off many of the bill's supporters.
