Hutchison draws from Perry donors

Houston Chronicle:

...

Probably the most notable is former University of Texas Regent Robert Rowling, who quit in anger in February over how Perry and Dewhurst treated University of Texas Management Co. President Bruce Zimmerman because of his $1 million bonus. Rowling, who was appointed to the UT board by Perry, gave Hutchison $100,000.

Other major Perry donors who have switched to Hutchison are Houstonians Ned Holmes, investor Charles Tate and beer distributor John Nau. Also on the list are Texas A&M Regent Erle Nye and Drayton McLane, owner of the Houston Astros.

...
The story also indicates that Houston Mayor White is going to spend a lot of his own money for Hutchison's senate seat if she resigns to run for governor. There are also a lot of Republicans running for that not yet open senate seat, but I don't think any of them have the resources available that White does at this time. That could change by the time the race gets started.

Perry still has substantial donors and will probably be able to get his message out. He is also leading in the polls right now, which means Hutchison will have to spend more to change perceptions about the race.
