Chavez gives Obama whiny book about South America

NY Daily News:

Hugo Chavez once famously dumped on President Obama's predecessor as "the devil," but Saturday, the Venezuelan strongman came bearing gifts for the new guy in the White House.

Chavez presented Obama with a copy of a book called "The Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent" as the two presidents made the rounds of the annual Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago.

The book is a famed Uruguayan journalist's treatise on foreign exploitation of the region.

Chavez said he signed it, "For Obama, with warm regards."

"It's an extraordinary book that helped me understand Latin America when I was young, our history, our reality," said Chavez, who apparently gave Obama a copy of the book in Spanish - a language he doesn't speak.

It wasn't clear whether Obama would delve into the tome soon, if at all.

"I thought it was one of Chavez's books. I was going to give him one of mine," Obama said.

...

Chavez domestic exploitation as well as Castro's could make for an interesting book to. It is as if those guys forget the Monroe Doctrine helped stop the exploitation by Europeans and it was the US that freed Cuba.

I think Obama may want to rethink his position on torture after having to listen to Daniel Ortega also why about capitalism and colonialism. This from a guy who embraced communism which was responsible for over 100 million deaths in the 20th century alone. Listening to Ortega has to be worse than anything that happened at Gitmo.

  1. Chairman Zero and Red Hugo have a lot in common- both are arrogant narcissists with a racial victimhood complex... and habitual liars.
    -
Both displayed contempt for democracy or any opposition whatsoever once elected- and are absolutely clueless re. economic manners. And both are out to serve a far-left agenda while dragging a bountiful nation into the abyss.
    -
So these two have plenty to chat about-
    -
Actually, I think I respect Chavez more- he might be a misguided socialist twit, but at least he's honest about it.

You knock Chavez & associate him with ORTEGA (my God, Ortega!) in the same story. You got some guts, dude. Unfortunately, your heart (if you have one) is in the wrong place. The history of America in South America is deplorable. Good luck in explaining to "those Spanish people down there" why resources were exploited by "us Gringos" and yet a Hispanic person can't earn citizenship in America. Import all those foreign workers to take away tech jobs, but any poor Hispanic can't earn a decent wage AND citizenship.
