Sen. Caroline?

NY Times:

Caroline Kennedy, the deeply private daughter of America’s most storied political dynasty, will seek the United States Senate seat in New York being vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Ms. Kennedy ended weeks of silence with a series of rapid-fire phone calls to the state’s leading political figures, including Gov. David A. Paterson, in which she emphatically and enthusiastically declared herself interested in the seat, according to several people who received the calls.

"She told me she was interested in the position,” Mr. Paterson said at a news conference outside Albany on Monday. He added: “She’d like at some point to sit down and tell me what she thinks her qualifications are.”

This appears to be a senate seat for the winner's of life's lottery as Dick Gephart once put it. If you were married to a former President or fathered by one, you have a better shot than those who are not members of the lucky genes club.

What are Caroline's accomplishments? They are not much different from Obama's. She is a celebrity famous for being famous and, in her case, being born in a famous family. But, if the Democrats want to put in a lightweight who has not paid her dues that is OK with me. I think in the long run it will be to the Republican's advantage. She can join Patty Murray and Barbara Boxer in the intellectual lightweight caucus.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
