What were the 'fleeting expletives'

In a remarkable editorial on the Supreme Court's review of an FCC ruling on the use of "fleeting expletives" the NY Times comes down of the side of the expletives but never tells us what expletives are at issue. I can only assume they were too nasty for the Times to print, but they are OK to say in front of you kids on TV. Go figure.

Note that the FCC cannot restrain the NY Times from publishing the expletives. The Times only constraint is its own judgment of what is offensive to readers and its sense of taste. If the words were too offensive for the Times editorial page, which kids are unlikely to read anyway it argues against their argument.

We can only hope the times is as robust in the defense of free speech when the Democrats attempt to thwart conservative speech with the "fairness" doctrine.
