US OK with one party rule?
Sen. John McCain railed against Democratic control of Washington during his closing argument of his presidential campaign. The only one party rule I am OK with is Republican. I also have great faith in the Democrats' ability to screw things up and bring on a Republican resurgence in 2010. It is almost a given that Democrats will lose House and Senate seats in 2010. There have only been two midterm elections where that did not happen and one of those was 2002 when the Republicans gained seats. And the Republican presidential nominee warned America about the liberal trio of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid and presidential nominee Barack Obama.
"We're getting a glimpse of what one-party rule would look like under Obama, Pelosi and Reid. Apparently, it starts with lowering our defenses and raising our taxes," McCain said repeatedly on the campaign trail in the final weeks leading up to Election Day.
Not only did Obama beat McCain in the presidential election, the Democrats picked up seats in Congress. And a new national poll suggests why a majority of voters didn't seem to buy McCain's argument.
In a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Tuesday, 59 percent of those questioned think that Democratic control of both the executive and legislative branches will be good for the country, with 38 percent saying that such one-party control will be bad.

"That much good will from the public opens a window of opportunity for the Democrats," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. "But the public expects results and may not listen to excuses for very long if a Democratic Congress and a Democratic White House can't get their act together in time."

The Democrats really did nothing to deserve their gains this time around. They have run a very dishonest campaign against President Bush. They were dead wrong about Iraq strategy for the last two years.
They were dead wrong on energy for the last two decades and they mislead voters in 2008 about their willingness to explore for offshore oil and now that they have been elected Obama is already threatening to cut off that avenue. They are the most anti energy people in this country and they will not be able to continue fooling the voters in the future. They are also being exposed for their desire to drive up the cost of energy.
When the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010 we will probably see them exposed as tax raisers.
On top of these issues the Democrats will finally have to take responsibility for their bad polices. I think the prospects for the GOP are already looking up.
