Don't know much about history--Obama 2nd edition
Obama apologized to Nancy Reagan for suggesting that she had held seances. It is pretty typical of his snarky sense of humor. It was actually Hillary Clinton that hinted at seances in the White House. Neither deserved to be the butt of the President-elect's attempt at humor. This is one area where he will probably never be compared favorably to President Kennedy.
You missed a couple of central points. Obama's remark was out of character and at least he called Nancy Reagan to apologize.
ReplyDeleteIn his defense, just imagine how hard it is going to be to get the U.S. back on track when one party ridicules intelligence and education. During the 1st Republican presidential debate I remember how most of the candidates denied the existence of evolution for our existence!
Take off your partisan hat for a moment and think about the magnitude of the problem this country faces when over half the citizens believe in ghosts, UFO landings and the like.
It is well known that Nancy used astrologers for advice. It wouldn't really matter if the net effect is that the U.S. has pretty much lost of battle for DNA research due to the Republican religious right.
It is no coincidence that the CEO of Google is on Obama's transition, as is Warren Buffet. The Republican Party's adoption of Joe Sixpack over an educated populace is largely to blame for the mess that we are in.
Add to that a major dose of "all government oversight" is bad and the fantasy of the Invisible Hand guiding our economy and you get the largest financial meltdown in world history.
