Hunters in PA and NASCAR fans in VA cheer Todd Palin
At a NASCAR track in Virginia he talked to a bigger crowd that was also enthusiastic:Todd Palin didn't speak long during a quick stop in Allegheny County on Saturday, but the husband of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said enough to rouse loud cheers at a rally of fellow hunters and gun enthusiasts.
Nearly 80 outdoorsmen burst into applause when the avid sportsman pledged the Republican ticket headed by Sen. John McCain would support "our core values."
"Make sure you bring your hunting and fishing buddies to the polls to vote," he told the group at the Pitcairn-Monroeville Sportsmen's Club in North Versailles.

"Senator Obama has said we cling to our guns because we are bitter," Palin said, referencing a controversial comment Obama made about Pennsylvania voters in the spring primary.

Noting the Republican ticket has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association, Palin urged McCain-Palin backers to push hard in the closing weeks of the campaign with the "get-out-the-vote message."

The First Dude is working hard for the ticket and is finding receptive audiences around the country.Todd Palin does not feel out of place at the Martinsville Speedway for the Tums Quickpack 500. He’s an accomplished snowmobile racer, and the warmer weather in Martinsville matches the kind welcome.
“I participate in a 2,000 mile race across Alaska, I’ve got my Iron Dog partner here with me. So it’s just a thrill for us to be down here, and I’ll leave my telephone number with any NASCAR racer if they want to go riding with us,” he said with a smile.
On Sunday, he’s in his own race to get John McCain to the White House – taking pictures, shaking hands, even getting a chance to meet “The King” of NASCAR, Richard Petty. With each fan he meets, he hopes it earns McCain an extra vote.

With over 65,000 fans at the race, people drive to Martinsville from all over the country. So the McCain campaign is reaching a more diverse crowd in southside Virginia.
Congressional candidate for the fifth district, Virgil Goode, was by Palin’s side.
“The enthusiasm for Todd has been tremendous. A lot of individuals have expressed how much they are supporting McCain [and] Palin.”
