The beat of 'Stayin' Alive' could save your life

Who knew the Bee Gees talked like Sarah Palin?

The Telegraph reports that doctors use the tune to administer CPR at the proper rate.

The Seventies disco anthem contains 103 beats per minute, just three beats more than the 100 chest compressions per minute recommended by the American Heart Association.

Keeping time with the song helped a small group of doctors at the University of Illinois medical school maintained close to the ideal number of chest compressions during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

To get the exact rhythm they should try a Johnny Cash song that was written to match the human heart beat. In fact I Walk the Line would be a good choice with its opening line, "I keep a close watch on this heart of mine...."
