Hellfire hits 4 enemy in Pakistan

A suspected U.S. drone aircraft fired missiles at house in Pakistan's Waziristani tribal region on Thursday, killing four Islamist militants a day after U.S. commandoes killed 20 people in a cross-border assault.

The latest attack targeted the house of a tribesman, Rehman Wali, in the Mohammad Khel area in North Waziristan tribal region, near the border with Afghanistan, where the militants were hiding.

"Apparently three missiles were fired by the drone," a witness in the area told Reuters on condition of anonymity. Five militants were wounded in the attack.

Military officials were not immediately available for comment and it was not known whether any senior al Qaeda leader was among those killed or wounded.

It appears that a coordinated campaign is being launched against enemy forces in Pakistan who have been seeking sanctuary from which to attack our forces in Afghanistan. This could have a significance effect on enemy operations.

It also appears that this step of attacks followed Pakistan's announcement of a unilateral ceasefire for Ramadan. I suspect it is not just a coincidence. It is possible that Pakistan decided to go for the cease fire for reasons beyond getting more votes for the government candidate for President. It is also possible that the US decided not to let the enemy get too comfortable.

At any rate the operation tempo for cross border operations is picking up. They are probably a combination of special forces operations and CIA Predator attacks. This one two punch will make it more difficult for al Qaeda and its Taliban allies to react and respond.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
