Bottom story of the day--Russia

From CNN:

Russian lawmakers back Georgia rebels

Unlike most bottom stories of the day this one is a real story, but it was predictable from the moment the Russians launched their aggression in Georgia. It is the culmination of a long planned attack.

But the bottom line is that if the area were truly independent and had popular support, they would not need thousands of Russian troops to prop them up. It is also pretty silly that an area with a population not much more than Washington County, Texas can declare itself "independent."

What would be news is if any other country in the world recognizes their declaration.

    If not Russian troops, they would be exterminated by Georgians.

    It's obvious that Russia wants to annex these two regions, but this time Georgia has really gone mad starting an artillery barrage on Russian «peacekeeper» mission. Thus, Russia got an absolutely valid casus belli to move in the troops.

    When Georgians killed very many people in the South Osetia - you call this "casus belli"?
    Be sure, common people would like to keep a piece, because everybody likes to live, to breathe...

    But politicians think another way. They try to solve their own wishes to get rich and etc by other people. I'm assure, that your President M-r Bush do not think about common Americans, when he started the war against Iraq... And now... When Mackein are losing to Obama... I guess they try to destabilize situation in Georgia just to win the election... And they can.

    Unfortunately, common people are just puppets for politicians. But people believe that they are free!

    Are you ready live all your life in the illusion of the freedom? Or you want to be really free?

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
