NATO returns fire back into Pakistan

Reuters:

NATO forces in Afghanistan attacked targets inside Pakistan with artillery and attack helicopters after coming under rocket fire from across the border, the alliance said on Wednesday.

..

ISAF forces "received multiple rocket attacks from militants inside Pakistan, July 15," the force said in a statement. "

The troops identified a (compound) as the point of origin of the attacks and responded in self-defence with a combination of fires from attack helicopters and artillery into Pakistan."

Apparently there is some cooperation from Pakistan military forces in coordinating the return fire. The Pak military has also agreed to search the area for those responsible for firing on the NATO forces. On other occasions it appears that some in the Pakistan military have been coordinating their activities with the enemy. I also posted last night that there was a report of US forces massing on the border with Pakistan. There is no indication whether these were the forces that were fired upon.

Bill Roggio has more on the border skirmishes.
