Israel intercepts communications with al Qaeda by 2 Beduins

Two Israeli Bedouin from the southern city of Rahat were charged Wednesday with transferring sensitive information to the al-Qaida terror network and planning attacks against strategic installations together with Global Jihad.

The two suspects, Taher Abu Sakut and Omar Abu Sakut, were arrested in late May and early June in a joint Israel Police-Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) operation.

An indictment was filed against them on Wednesday in the Beersheba District Court, accusing them of membership in a terror organization, aiding the enemy during a time of war and transferring information to the enemy with intent to harm national security.

Both suspects confessed during their interrogations to having established contacts with Global Jihad elements throughout the Islamic world and assisting them in locating targets for potential terror attacks within Israel.

Security officials said that Taher Abu Sakhut - the primary suspect - allegedly began entering websites affiliated with al Qaida and Global Jihad and which called for Israel's destruction in 2006 soon after becoming a religiously-observant Muslim. At the same time, he also became associated with the Islamic Movement in Rahat, the largest Bedouin town in the South.

Through these contacts, Tahar agreed to join al Qaida and transferred the group information on IDF bases, strategic installations throughout Israel and other crowded places, such as the Azrieli Towers in Tel Aviv and Ben-Gurion International Airport, that could be targets in attacks.

The detainees are also suspected of transferring to Al Qaida information on potential routes that could be used to infiltrate into Israel from the West Bank.

At one point during the contacts with the al Qaida operatives, Tahar asked to be put in touch with terrorists from Iraq and Saudi Arabia who could be recruited to carry out attacks against Jews and Israel.

I am glad Israel is not hampered by Democrats are a FISA court in looking for communications with the enemy. Not intercepting these messages could get a lot of people killed.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
