Iran threatens Tel Aviv, US ships
Iran will hit Tel Aviv, U.S. shipping in the Gulf and American interests around the world if it is attacked over its disputed nuclear activities, an aide to Iran's Supreme Leader was quoted as saying on Tuesday. This is why I have always argued that any attack on Iran's nuke program should not be limited to it. Such an attack should first attack all Iranian war making assets including its conventional weapons making facilities, all its naval assets and missile assets. Hezballah and other proxy forces should also be attacked. The US is already on the defensive for the other targets mentioned. It will also be able to find some room at Gitmo for Iranian agents."The first bullet fired by America at Iran will be followed by Iran burning down its vital interests around the globe," the students news agency ISNA quoted Ali Shirazi as saying in a speech to Revolutionary Guards.
The United States and its allies suspect Iran is trying to build nuclear bombs. Tehran says its program is peaceful.
"The Zionist regime is pressuring White House officials to attack Iran. If they commit such a stupidity, Tel Aviv and U.S. shipping in the Persian Gulf will be Iran's first targets and they will be burned," Shirazi was quoted as saying.
Shirazi, a mid-level cleric, is Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's representative to the Revolutionary Guards.

It scares me and makes me sad that there's people with opinions like yours in America. What about the 3/4 of us who want nothing to do with a war with Iran? Moreover, how can you blame the Iranians for saying they retaliate if we start a war with them? Any country would retaliate if their country comes under attack. I wish there was a way for the people of the broader Middle East to understand that MOST Americans understand we are the aggressors, that we are wrong, and that we are the greatest threat to world peace.
ReplyDeleteRich,
ReplyDeleteIran is in violation of UN requests for inspections. The entire world--including your favorites like France, Germany, and England--is concerned about how Iran has responded to fears about its nuclear program.
You and your liberal friends bitch and moan, but you fail to offer an alternative. What would you have us do instead? And before you answer, please keep in mind that the European nations have tried that exact thing you are thinking of over, and over, and over again with no avail.
Ben,
ReplyDeleteYou started off great in the first paragraph and then you stooped to the "L" word (Liberal). Just because someones opinions differs than yours does not mean they are a liberal.
You chastise Rich for not offering an alternative and you did the same. Nothing suggested.
Aggression begets aggression, simple.
Iran must be watched and we must be active in talks with them. You must remember the Iranians are noone too happy with their President and elections will be forth coming. The Iranians (the common people) are just as sick of him as we are.
If an attack is necessary, so be it. But to be so hawkish is also not too wise. That's not liberal, that's being smart!!
I prefer to walk silent and carry a big stick. We are a great military power, it's not necessary to brag about it. We know it and they know it.
