'Ty, you better get in here!'

Angela felt her first contraction early in the morning. Asked by Ty if they needed to head to the hospital, she told him they were fine, so he went back to bed. She got him back up a little later. As Ty called the grandparents to inform them of his plans to drop Chase off at their house, Angela went in for a quick shower.

As Ty packed Chase's bag, Angela cried out for him from the closet: "Ty, you better get in here!"

He sprinted in, then began to dial 911. The next 10 minutes, Ty and Angela say, felt like two hours.

"I pretty much had time to give them my address and catch the baby," Ty said. "When I caught the baby, the phone was on the ground. When I got back on the phone, the 911 guy said, 'With each contraction, it's going to come out more and more.' I said, 'I already have the baby.' They said to put towels all around to keep him warm. So we wrapped him in towels."

From there, Angela took the phone and helped guide Ty through the rest of the crucial moments. All the while, Chase banged on the door wondering why he couldn't join his parents. Chase's confusion grew when he saw his father sprint out of the closet, unlock the home's front door, sprint back into the closet, and keep him out once again.

"I know the 10 minutes it took for the EMT to get there was the scariest part," Ty said. "The 911 operator was great. He helped me along. He told me to tie a shoestring around the umbilical cord and all that stuff. He pretty much just had me keep wiping (the baby's) mouth and his nose.

"Obviously, at this time my wife had to have the phone because she was telling me what to do. She's really the trouper. She gave natural birth. Obviously, there's no doctor. I'm sure she was more scared than anybody."
