Romney's religion speech
Mark Tapscott has excerpts of the speech that is to be delivered at 9:30 this morning. It is a good speech and should do no damage to his campaign.
CNN has a full report on the speech. I think his most controversial line was, "Freedom requires religion, just as religion requires freedom...." Actually Christianity was born into oppression and many of its earliest believers were killed or put in prison. It has survived in many hostile environments. It is certainly better for everyone when it exist in freedom. Those of the atheist faith or lack there of would probably also challenge the belief that freedom requires religion since freedom from religion seems to be what animates them.
...It will be interesting to see what objections are raised to the speech.
"When I place my hand on the Bible and take the oath of office, that oath becomes my highest promise to God. If I am fortunate to become your president, I will serve no one religion, no one group, no one cause, and no one interest. A President must serve only the common cause of the people of the United States."…
