Jumping with "Gampy" Bush

The Houston Chronicle interviews Bush 41:

...

Q: I understand you didn't tell your wife until the night before, and you didn't tell your son until you were in the plane?

A: Well, almost in the plane. I called over to talk to him, but he was in a meeting with (German Chancellor) Angela Merkel and I talked to Laura and said, "I'm just about to climb on this airplane to jump with the Golden Knights. Please tell the president." "Oh yeah, OK, Gampy." So, anyway, off we went. We didn't tell our other kids who were there (in the audience at the library) — Jeb and Neil and Doro were all there, and they didn't have any idea about it. I said we gotta tell the Secret Service, or they would have got in trouble back in Washington. That's the fun of it. The fun of life is a good surprise.

It is an interesting interview. At the end he gets the former President to open up a little about his legacy, even though Bush is adamant that he does not want have an authorized biography, at least while his son is still in office. The discussion about the air craft carrier named after him that is being built really got him to open up.
