Death of a trumpet player in Mexico

The Houston Chronicle reports on the death of another Mexican musician, the third in the last week.

...

His body was discovered Wednesday with his legs and feet bound and both a nylon bag and pillow case pulled over his head.

He was a trumpet player in Los Conde, a family-based band that produced several albums.

"Up to now, we don't have any suspects identified," said Humberto Cano of the Oaxaca state attorney general's office.

Cano said it would be "very irresponsible" to suggest the killing was tied to organized crime or any particular motive.

Well, we don't want to be irresponsible, but it is unlikely his lyrics on stage that got him killed. It is a mystery why Mexican musicians are under attack, but the coincidences are unavoidable.
