Loser lobby works the loser caucus

The NY Times is confirming a point I have made often about the nature of the opposition to winning the war. Lobbyist have replaced the street theater of past advocates for defeat. The story questions their effectiveness.

What the revelation does suggest is that their are some powerful rich people who desperately want the US to lose this war. MoveOn.org has been one of the big organizers of the loser lobby.

Sen. John Cornyn of Texas has been one of the good guys who has stood up to these advocates for defeat. He set back the Americans Against Escalation in Iraq, which is a leader of the advocates for defeat with his resolution resolving that America won’t allow Iraq to become a failed state and a haven for terrorists.

It was a brilliant resolution that framed the issue in a stark way that the losers could not spin. Sen. Cornyn is one of the smartest members of the Republican caucus right now. His ability to frame issues and put the Democrats on the defensive will be as important as what our troops are doing in Iraq, because the center of gravity of this war has moved to Congress where the Democrats and al Qaeda see their futures tied to Americas defeat in Iraq.

Sen. Cornyn's leadership in fighting off the loser lobby and the loser caucus is critical to defeating the enemy in its war against us. Texas and all Americans should support his efforts. They should also support his reelection in 2008.

We also need to be more explicit in our opposition to loser lobbyist like Americans Against Escalation in Iraq. The Republicans need to expose these people and their funding and their loser agenda.
