Iran rearranges its deck chairs

Westhawk:

...

This re-arranging of the deck chairs by Mr. Ahmadinejad is an early indication that Iranian’s economic decay is causing indigestion and perhaps even high anxiety within Iran’s top political echelon. Most of this economic putrefaction is self-inflicted; the mullahs’ fondness for corruption, combined with Mr. Ahmadinejad’s rapturous embrace of Marxist economics can only guarantee economic turmoil. Playing an important supporting role is the U.S. Treasury’s increasingly successful effort to cut off Iran and its industries from the global banking system (this recent article from the Financial Times describes how Deutsche Bank, one of Europe’s largest, has expelled its Iranian clients, another success for U.S. Treasury Secretary Paulson).

Given Mr. Ahmadinejad’s questionable judgment, installing more obedient flunkies in critical posts such as the oil ministry and central bank can only result in an acceleration of Iran’s rot. This is what decay smells like.
The only cure for what ails Iran is regime change. It is being run by ideologist who do not understand basic economics. They are religious bigots who do not take responsibility for the consequences of their bad policies.
