Dems using LA Times to "Swiftboat" Fred Thompson
Jim Gerahty reports on another LA Times hit piece aimed at Fred Thompson sourced by former Congressman Michael D. Barnes (D-Md.) again among others.
...If Thompson were a Democrat the left wing blogs would be calling these attacks a "smear" campaign and an attempt to "Swift boat" Thompson. It is interesting how partisan differences changes their perspective on these events. Geraghty does not mention whether Barnes is connected to the Clinton campaign or is perhaps carrying water for the DNC, but the Clinton's characterize such attacks as the "politics of personal destruction." Rush Limbaugh just calls them part of the media anal exam that Republican candidates have to go through if the media thinks they may win.
This raises an interesting question: If you're a current or former legal partner of Barnes, and you have a disagreement with him, what assurances do you have that he won't talk about any of your work or clients to the Los Angeles Times? Do Arent Fox Kintner Plotkin & Kahn partners make a habit out of talking about their former coworkers to the media?
