Taliban lose the hearts and mind battle in Afghanistan

Telegraph:

Despite fears of rising violence, three quarters of Afghans believe their quality of life has improved since the fall of the Taliban, according to a new poll.

Violence continues to play a prominent role in the daily lives of Afghans, with four in 10 reporting experiencing insurgent attacks, including bombings, arson, and killings, in their areas.

...

Across the country 70 per cent say they are "grateful" rather than "unhappy" with the presence of Nato troops in the country.

...

Some 5 per cent expressed support for Taliban fighters, and 11 per cent for jihadi fighters from other countries.

...
All of which raises the question of why some in Pakistan think the Taliban are winning? The media has tried to use the same theme it has had in Iraq that every where is falling into chaos and that the Taliban are growing stronger. When you combine this dismal poll result with the Taliban's dismal result on the battlefield, only a fool would say they are winning.
