Olberman decides that mention of Obama's full name is not beneath contempt

Maureen Dowd is worried that the Republican smear machine is at it again, attacking Barack Obama by using…his middle name. It seems Ed Rogers referred to Obama by his full name on "Hardball" a while back, setting off indignation among some on the left. I don't know why it came to Rogers' mind, but it is true I included Obama's middle name in an NR story (not available on the web) in early November:
Obama has joked that he worried his political career was over after 9/11 because his name sounded too much like Osama. In fact, it's better than that: Named after his father, his full name is Barack Hussein Obama Jr.
Whatever the source, Rogers' comment caused MSNBC's Keith Olbermann some distress. "We have this right-wing implication that you must have the right name or the right God to be American," Olbermann said. "This fellow Ed Rogers, among others, has taken to calling Senator Obama Barack Hussein Obama." Olbermann wondered what the proper response should be: "Is it to point out the racial element to this, or the religious element to this? Or is it just to say, this is beneath contempt and not worthy of any response?"

It is too late for that Keith. I have never had much respect for Olbermann or his spiel, and I am sure the feeling the would be mutual if he were even aware of my existence, but if he thinks the repeating of Obama's full name is not worthy of any response, why is he responding? His father's name suggest he may have been a Muslim. I have not seen any reporting on this question, but it would be interesting to know. I get the impression that his father did not have much influence on his life since he was raised by his mother.

Obama seems to be able to adopt positions that would get most Democrats rejected by their party, which makes him an interesting figure. At some point though, if he is going to be a serious candidate he is going to have to demonstrate more than the ability to say interesting things and get a way with it. What administrative experience has he had? What leadership postions has he had? What has he accomplished other than being famous for being Obama?

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
