Hezballah hudspah parade

Ynet:

Hizbullah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech to demonstrators in Beirut, "The Lebanese opposition will not stop its protest until (Lebanese Prime Minister) Fouad Siniora's government that is supported by the West falls."

"Those that think that we will surrender are deluding themselves," said Nasrallah, who spoke to protesters from the bunker in which he is staying since the second Lebanese war.

Nasrallah accused Siniora of conniving with Israel during the war, alleging that he ordered the Lebanese army to confiscate Hizbullah's supplies of weapons.

''Didn't the prime minister of Lebanon work to cut off the supply lines?'' asked Nasrallah.

Nasrallah also accused Siniora of taking orders from the US and called for a committee of Lebanese or Arab judges to investigate the government's actions during the Israeli-Hizbullah war.

...
Let's see. Nasrallah starts a disastrous war by going into Israel and kidnapping soldiers to use as a bargaining chip in releasing a convicted terrorist and he has the hudspah to blame the government in Lebanon for his troubles rather than taking responsibility for the damage his actions caused Lebanon. He should be slinking off into the shadows rather than trying to topple the legitimate government. And, he would be if he were not acting as an agent for Iran and Syria.

Wretchard at the Belmont Club captures teh essence of Nasrallah's position:

...

Nasrallah is openly accusing Saniora of attempting to abide by UN resolutions to cut off the arming of a foreign army on Lebanese soil -- something UNIFIL is supposed to prevent, if UNIFIL can be found -- and simultaneously admitting by implication the existence of a Ho Chi Minh trail into southern Lebanon. For those who want a Vietnam reference, there's one.

Saniora's allies have accused Hezbollah of being influenced by Iran and Syria, which they claim want to destabilize Lebanon by supporting the militant group's plans to oust the government.

Saniora's allies. But where is the UN? Where are the French led UNIFIL troops, the ones armed with LeClerc AFVs, the ones with SAMs all ready to open fire on Israeli aircraft? Don't worry, the Sudan -- Osama Bin Laden's former home -- is on the job. And he has advice for the Lebanese government. Why don't they "listen" to Hezbollah?

..

Where is the UN in telling Nasrallah to knock it off? What is the UN doing about the resupply for the next Hezballah proxy war? The answers are nowhere and not much.
