The liberals plan for creating disaster in Iraq

The Belmont Club comments on an article in New Republic that admits that leaving Iraq will make the situation worse. The writer still believe the US should accept defeat. This is utter nonsense. The enemy in Iraq is not capable of defeating the US in that country. It is absolutely ridiculous to suggest that the US is being defeated in Iraq. The only place we are losing this war is in the media. The enemy has all the power of a cock roach. He can make a mess, but he cannot build a house or a country. He is a parasitic enemy with limited resources who has alienated the population. Our problems in Iraq stem from the rush to empower a feeble government before it is ready for responsibility. That is a problem that can be fixed by pushing that government to take necessary steps or withdrawing support from it if it will not.

What Packer does not address in his wonderful article is the point raised in the continuation of that same Belmont Club post. Withdrawing from Iraq will just move the killing elsewhere.

Everyone comes to Casablanca. Including al-Qaeda. This is going to be different because the enemy will pursue right back to mainstreet USA. Perhaps even on the tide of refugees that will be sure to ensue.

Of course it's impossible for the war to come home to America isn't it? How could the enemy attack America, or are we forgetting something just at the edge of our consciousness? The flaw in the argument over leaving Iraq is to assume that we have the option to leave the war. Consider Israel: it can't even leave Gaza. The World Net Daily describes the problem of dealing Qassam rockets that are being launched with increasing depth into Israel.

Since Israel withdrew from Gaza 15 months ago, Gaza-based Palestinian terror groups have fired hundreds of Qassam rockets at Jewish communities near the territory. Qassams are improvised steel rockets, about four feet in length, filled with explosives and fuel. They can travel between one and four miles depending on the sophistication of the particular rocket

The answer? After withdrawing from Gaza, withdraw deeper into Israel....

I have not heard anyone on the left address this problem other than deny that exist. But has been made clear to Israel the only safety is in destroying the enemy.

Gen. Abizaid says much the same thing about the problem with quitting.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
