Haggard media

Neal Boortz:

Boy, the mainstream media has been milking this Ted Haggard story for all it's worth. Who cares if some TV preacher is caught up in a sex scandal? It should probably be news for oh..about a day. But you see, the media realizes this could be a way to embarrass the White House and suppress the evangelical vote. Supposedly Haggard was part of some White House conference calls here and there...which makes him a senior administration official!

Why is this national news for several days running? The answer is because Ted Haggard is an evangelical and the evangelical vote is huge for the Republican party. The media sees the Haggard story like they saw the Foley story...a way to discourage evangelicals suppress voter turnout on the right. Now it may or may not work, but they're going to push it for all it's worth.

...
They are doing Haggard because the Foley kerfuffle has flamed out. Both stories are big news for those who want to suppress Republican votes. The Haggard story is a big deal to him and his family and to his former congregation, but to the rest of the world it is just another example of someone who has not been able to live up to his own standards.
