A fools errand

NY Times:

Leaders from a variety of cultural and religious backgrounds on Monday announced a United Nations initiative to resolve the conflict between the West and the Muslim world.

They issued a framework for their effort, prepared over the past year, that singled out the Palestinian-Israeli conflict as a primary source of the deepening split.

“No other conflict carries such a powerful symbolic and emotional charge among people far removed from the battlefield,” Kofi Annan, the United Nations secretary general, said at a news conference. “As long as the Palestinians live under occupation, exposed to daily frustration and humiliation, and as long as Israelis are blown up in buses and in dance halls, so long will passions everywhere be inflamed.”

The report was drafted by 20 scholars and other leaders, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, Mohammad Khatami, the former Iranian president, and others from many nations. It calls for collective action on issues of education, youth and immigration.

Members of the panel and Mr. Annan emphasized their view that the causes of tensions are primarily political, not religious.

...

They could not be more wrong.

The root cause of the problems in the Middle East is Muslim religious bigotry and ethnic hatred. It is that religious bigotry that prevents Muslim Palestinians from reaching any deal with Israel on a two state solution.

There is also the Muslim real estate worshiping cult that believes that any land that has been conquered by Muslims can never be reconquered by the original inhabitants. That is why al Qaeda still covets Spain.

The problem is clearly religious and it is the Muslim religion that is the problem. All you have to do is listen to what the Hamas death cult says about Israel and the Israelis to comprehend the religious nature of this conflict. Because it is religious, and not political, any compromise by the death cults is perceived to compromise their place in Paradise. That is a compromise they are not willing to make. Hamas is not even willing to acknowledge Israel's right to exist in the face of starving the beggar entity of the Palestinian authority.

Iran's bellicose threats to wipe Israel off the face of the map is also based on its leaders religious bigotry and the willful ignorance of its leaders over the holocaust.

This group can never hope to achieve its objectives when it will not even acknowledge the problem.
