Boehner easy GOP winner

Washington Post:

House majority leader John A. Boehner (Ohio) was elected by his colleagues this morning to serve as minority leader in the Democratic-controlled Congress that will convene in January.

Boehner, currently the House majority leader, triumphed over Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) by a wide margin, 168 to 27. He will succeed outgoing Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) as the top Republican leader in the next Congress.

Pence had mounted a conservative challenge to Boehner, saying the Republicans must rein in runaway spending and curb the mounting federal debt in order to return to power in future election cycles.

Republicans continued to caucus after the minority leader vote and will select a minority whip later this morning. Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), the current majority whip, is favored to win the position, but faces a strong challenge from Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.).

...
I like all of these guys. Boehner was not the problem for Republicans this last election. He has not been grubbing at the trough causing overspending.
