The chemical weapons finds in Iraq
Washington Times:
U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq have found about 500 chemical weapons since the March 2003 invasion, with more thought to exist, according to portions of an intelligence report made public yesterday. If we are still finding these weapons it would be foolish to pullout now and leave them for the terrorist. The Democrat demogoguery over WMD ignores the fact that Saddam never accounted for his WMD as required by the cease fire agreement and seveal UN resolutions. Never. The fact that many of them still have not been found does not mean we weere "mislead" into war. It means they are still largely unaccounted for and it would be a huge mistake to leave before they are accounted for.
"Since 2003, Coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent," said an overview of the report, which was declassified at the behest of Sen. Rick Santorum, Pennsylvania Republican, and Rep. Peter Hoekstra, Michigan Republican and head of the House intelligence committee.
"Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq's pre-Gulf war chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf war chemical munitions are assessed to still exist," according to the report.
The two Republican lawmakers said the report validates one key U.S. rationale for the war against Saddam Hussein's Iraq.
