The Baghdad weekly briefing

Maj. Gen. William Caldwell and Brig. Gen. Steve Hoog provided the weekly briefing with Hoog providing more detail on the planes and ordinance used in the strike of Zarqawi. There is just too much good material to even excerpt this one. There is a lot of detail on the Zarqawi hit and subsequent developments. The media first team is at the briefing and providing several good questions.

One tidbit I did pick up is that the pilot of the plane fixed his laser on the house to guide his bomb to it. He later enter the coordinates for the house in the GPS guided bomb that he followed up with.

There were no US forces in the area and it took them about 40 minutes to get there. That probably explains why the decision was made to bomb the place before he could get away.

I suggest you read the whole briefing, but it is pretty long.
