Trent Lott gives the adult perspective on the relief effort

Listening to an interview with Trent Lott who lost his 150 year old house in the storm, it is remarkable what a politician who talks sense instead of complaining sounds like. When asked about the focus on New Orleans and Lousiana, he did not complain. He said that he knew that everyone was doing everything they could to help with the situation in all the effected areas. He also said he appreciated all the help. Quite a contrast to the whining from Louisana officials.

Grace under pressure was Hemingway's definition of courage. It also defines leadership. It has been in short supply in some quarters, including TV anchors and reporters and some actors. Their lack of this characteristic should be noted the next time they seek leadership positions. Tantrums are no substitute for actions and cannot cover prior inactions.
